Ausralia Day celebrated with flowers

In late January, Lara Telford (Sogetsu ) inspired a group of children to create arrangements to mark Australia Day. They started by collecting some material from a nearby park-grasses, bark and fallen branches. They added blue statice and red and white gerberas. Also some cherry tomatoes and  chillies. And to finish, an Australian flag or windmill !
Five girls aged between 8 and 10 enjoyed the opportunity to be creative......perhaps some future members amongst them?

Our next meeting

The Melbourne Chapter of Ikebana International will meet at 10.30 on Tuesday 11th February at the Toorak Uniting Church Hall, 603 Toorak Road, Toorak.( It's on the west side of the church.)
The theme will be Red Hot Tuesday. After this burst of hot weather we can all relate to that, even if finding flowers in our summer-ravaged gardens will be a challenge. Fortunately, in ikebana the principle of 'less is more' is one which we hold dear.
The doors will be open from 9.30. Everyone is welcome to bring an arrangement.
