At the first meeting for this calendar year our President Trish Ward was pleased to welcome our Co-patron Mrs Yoko Matsunaga and a visitor Akemi Suzuki.
Vice President Christopher James gave a talk about the 'Preservation of Botanical Materials'. He drew on a booklet prepared by the Victorian Department of Agriculture containing information based on research undertaken by the Institute of Plant Sciences.
This arrangement by Christopher is of 'Two kinds of Branch Material' that had been prepared four days earlier according to the method prescribed in the booklet.
The ikebana theme of the meeting was 'Memories of Summer Holidays'. Members told a variety of interesting stories explaining their choices of materials and style of arranging. Unfortunately they were too complex to include in this blog.
