The guest speaker for the first meeting of 2017 was Tracy Bradford, an Art Therapist who works at the Toorak Uniting Church's, Kinross Art Centre. With an audience of 38 enthusiastic members paying close attention, she taught us the beginnings of how to 'weave' a basket using the 'coil' technique.
The experienced sewers among the group seemed to catch on to the task very quickly and were generous in their assistance to the novices at this exercise.
It did not take long for the members to become totally absorbed in the creative process.
Some of the members had prepared ikebana arrangements that responded to the concept of weaving materials. They are shown below with the name of member who created the work.
