APRIL WORKSHOP

The March meeting took the form of a Saturday afternoon workshop which was attended by twenty members and three visitors. The presenter was Yuko Asano, a teacher of the Wafu School of Ikebana and its only representative in Melbourne. Yuko read a welcome greeting from the Fourth Headmaster of the school, Mitsui Teshigahara, which also introduced and commended Yuko to the Chapter. She then introduced the theme of "Harmonising Colours" in an ikebana arrangement using two vessels.

Yuko first arranged in a nageire vase, then completed the work using a suiban in which she arranged materials that complemented the colours of her first ikebana.

Above Yuko's completed demonstration ikebana.

Once the theory was explained the members got to work with their own ikebana.

The intensity of the members' absorption in the task...

... is apparent in these two photographs.

Following the workshop the Vice President, Nobuko Kobayashi, thanked Yuko for conducting the workshop.

Below are photos of the participants work from the workshop.
